Percolation Test or “Perc” Test is legally required by the city before installing a septic system. The test confirms whether the soil meets the city and local health department's requirements.  The results will show whether the soil has adequate amounts of permeable contents like sand or gravel. You can only obtain the permit to start the installation process once you receive the permit.

Whether you are buying or selling your home, a Title V inspection is required by law. The inspector would check the current state of the system and look for any issues it might have in the near future.
